An acceleration trigger is a type of trigger that is only seen on flywheel blasters. Usually positioned underneath a blaster's firing trigger, this trigger powers up the blaster's flywheels and allows it to fire. So far such acceleration triggers are only seen on flywheel-powered blasters, so it can be expected that future Nerf flywheel blasters will have acceleration triggers. An ancestor of the modern acceleration trigger was the acceleration button on the Motorized Ballzooka MP-150, which served the same purpose but was on the left side of the blaster instead of near the firing trigger.

Flywheel blasters that lack acceleration triggers usually have sliding on/off switches. Examples include the Barricade RV-10 and Power Strike 48.

Blasters that have an acceleration trigger[]

Trivia[]

  • All acceleration triggers have been orange except for the Nerf Cam ECS-12's (black) and Rapid Red's (blue).
  • The first blaster to have an acceleration trigger was the Nitron.
  • The Firestrike and Star Shot Blaster have a second trigger with the same apperance as an acceleration trigger that activates their targeting lights.
