Aero is one of the shortest-lived Nerf themes to date, consisting of only one blaster, the Glider Launcher. The prime ammunition of the series, Aero Gliders, are like missiles, but with two of the fins being made larger and repositioned.
History[]
The Glider Launcher[]
The Glider Launcher was released in 1996, and marked the beginning of the Aero series. However, despite the blaster being fine, the Aero Gliders were poorly designed. Despite 3 different versions of the blaster existing to this day, the whole product failed because of the gliders' lackluster performance and inability to glide as advertised. Customers of its day described it as 'like throwing a towel into the air'. Despite a second and third version of the blaster and gliders improving on much of the initial problems, the Glider Launcher was quickly discontinued, and Hasbro went to NASA.
Gliders[]
Hasbro went to NASA, and collaborated with them on designing foam Nerf gliders. The first thing that was done was getting rid of the blasting part of it, followed by enlarging the gliders. Over the next several months, the 'Super Soaring Glider' and the 'Ultra Stunt Glider' were developed in two different physical forms, with eight different paint schemes. Despite this, they and the entire Aero series were quickly removed from shelves for unknown reasons.
