The Hydro Series was a short-lived attempt to bring water to Nerf blasters from 1993. There were three items in this line and they are hard to find nowadays. It is relatively unheard of because of this and features only one blaster in the line and the other was proposed, but never put into production. It may have been the Hydro Bazooka´s poor performance that did it for the series.

History[]

The Hydro series is the first labelled series to be made under the Nerf brand. Previously, it was only the unofficially dubbed 'Original Nerf Series'.

The series was originally meant to have two blasters and a single product, but this was changed to two products and one blaster last-minute before the second even got to toy fair.

The Hydro series was featured at the 1993 toy fair.

The Harpoon Crossbow was meant to be released alongside the Hydro Bazooka for Hydro's debut year, but was seemingly pulled last-minute. The two most plausible explanations are that it was too hard to get functioning properly or that it was too realistic of a blaster compared to others in the nerf brand at the time. Despite this, the Harpoon Crossbow can be seen on many Hydro Bazooka boxes and even is briefly seen in the commercial for the Hydro Bazooka. It was cancelled, however, and the limited Hydro Torpedoes that were made to go with them were instead sold in their own refill pack.
