Acquired by Hasbro
Larami Corp. was started in 1947. In 1982, Lonnie Johnson, then working as a nuclear engineer, thought of marketing a water gun marketed to children. Seven years later, in 1989, his idea, the Power Drencher, was born. Larami was also responsible for making the SuperMaxx series of blasters in 1994, which were eventually carried over to Kenner, who produced it under the Nerf name. In 2000, Hasbro acquired Larami, Kenner, OddzOn, Galoob and a few other brands, which was the end of Larami. Shortly after a few former Larami employees set up a company known as Buzz Bee, which is now Nerf's main competitor.
