Details[]

The Nerf Rocket is a type of ammo included with the Air Launcher. It was originally released in 1976.

The ammo itself is odd compared to modern ammo, or even vintage ammo. Its construction consists of a plastic core with a weight at the front, with a front and rear piece of foam glued to it. The missiles are roughly 5 inches long, with minor inconsistency in the manufacturing length.

This ammo resembles a rocket, and the fins on it are integrated into the body, rather than being separately glued on.

The inner diameter is between that of a Sharpshooter Dart and an Arrow, and it is not compatible with any blaster except for its patron blaster the Air Launcher.

The Rocket is capable of flying at a long range with high accuracy, but the accuracy will drop when the fins are damaged.

The foam utilized is almost nothing like the foam used in vintage or modern ammo. It does not have a solid wall or edge like every other type of foam, and it is considerably softer than the foam of any other projectile released. The foam is, however, similar to other products of its time, as this was introduced only 7 years after the Nerf Indoor Ball, the very first Nerf product.

History[]

The Nerf Rocket was introduced with the Air Launcher in 1976, and appeared to sell moderately well. However, it did not spawn a successor, and thus quickly fell into obscurity. Only 13 years later would a different product, the Ballistic Ball with its patron blaster the Blast-A-Ball , spawn a successor, and then the rest of the modern Nerf brand followed.
