The SuperMaxx 1000 is a 1994 Larami SuperMaxx blaster that holds and fires 6 Larami Darts. It is no longer available.

It sold for around $25.99 when it was released and had gotten great reviews.

Details[]

The SuperMaxx 1000 has a pump at the front that goes around the barrel, which goes well into the back of the blaster. The blaster has a six dart cylinder that rotates on trigger pull. The trigger itself rotates the trigger when it's halfway pulled, and fires the blaster when it's pulled all the way. Interestingly, the way the blaster regulates what you can fire out of it is more similar to a Dart Zone blaster(such as the Blitzfire) than to an actual air restrictor.

It looks similar in appearance to the Furyfire, and was controversial because of the flawed rotation mechanism and firing mechanisn which both could break after prolonged use.

Notably however, if the darts are not loaded all the way and pushed relatively harshly into the barrels, the air restrictor will not engage and the blaster will not fire.

The design of the rotation mechanism is different from almost any other blaster, and is very prone to breaking, with the culprit almost always being the front of the trigger breaking off. However, the chance lowers significantly when it is reinforced.

History[]

The blaster was released sometime in 1994, presumably in late 1994 since it was part of a new line of blasters. It was discontinued in mid-1995 when Hasbro bought out Larami, but unlike its smaller brother the SuperMaxx 500, it was permanently axed and never made the jump to any other blaster lines. Since then, it has become very rare to find in the modern world.

An interesting variation of the SuperMaxx 1000 is an alternate color scheme which is several shades of grey and a bright yellow tank, rather than the light gray, yellow, and burgundy of the normal version. Why the variation came about is unknown.

It was succeeded only a year later with the introduction of the SuperMaxx 2500(Xtreme), which uses the same tank and much of the same internals, but in a different form factor with an entirely different rotation mechanism.

Trivia[]

  • There is a sticker on the back of the air tank that reads "Pull Trigger Slowly For Best Results" in block letters. This may befuddle some Nerfers, since people pull the trigger on air blasters like the Magstrike AS-10 and Hornet AS-6 quickly for the best results.
    • However, doing so actually does make the blaster fire better and also reduces the chance of the rotation mechanism breaking.
  • There is a prototype variation with a red tank that shows up very often in catalogs and boxed images, but has never been seen in person. It was presumed to be changed to a burgundy tank because the SuperMaxx 1500 (1994) already has a red tank.
