The Triple Torch was a 1998 Nerf Mega Blitz blaster that was unique because it fired three different ammo types; Arrows, Mega Darts, or Micro Darts. It had its own arrow type never featured anywhere else, not even in refill packs. It holds 1 Gear Tooth Arrow, 1 Mega Dart or 2 Micro Darts in its ammo holders. It got good reviews with the Micro Darts, but poor reviews with the other two ammo types, notable the Gear Tooth Arrows.
The Triple Torch has two distinct sticker variations, with an older type which features the '97 Nerf logo and a Mega Blitz logo, and a newer type with just the '98 logo on both stickers. The newer one seems to be more common, however.
It is thought that the Triple Torch's production may have been cut off at the end of 1998 to make way for the Triple Strike the following year, a blaster with a similar name which also fires a unique Arrow type.
How to fire[]
Step 1 - Load any of the three ammunition types onto the barrel; darts go into the barrel, arrows onto the barrel.
Step 2 - Pull the red priming rod down.
Step 3 - Pull the trigger to fire.
Trivia[]
- The Jolt EX-1 is believed to be based off this blaster.
- The only other known Nerf brand blasters to use three different ammo types are the SuperMaxx 5000 and the Tri-Strike.
- The Triple Torch wasn't just named for its ability to fire three different ammo types; it was also named for having a resemblance to a futuristic kitchen torch.
- If one looks closely, the plunger handle actually resembles a piston; this is due to the theme of its patron series.
- The Triple Torch is one of the few blaster whose unique function would never be re-visited, since the other two blasters that fire three types of ammo use attachments.
- One of its included ammo types, the Gear Tooth Arrow, is the second-rarest known arrow type.
- The bottom of the priming handle can be used to store a second arrow.
- The Triple Torch is the smallest arrow blaster.
- It is the only Mega Blitz blaster to fire Arrows.
- It is one of the best micro dart blasters of pre-2003 blasters.
- When used in conjunction with the Switchfire (1994), it gives its user a rare opportunity to use every major type of ammunition available in the 1989-2003 era of Nerf: The Triple Torch uses Micro Darts, Mega Darts, and Arrows; the Switchfire uses Ballistic Balls and Missiles.
