The Whipshot is a 1995 Nerf Rip Rockets blaster that holds 1 Micro Dart. It is no longer available. It cost $6.99. It got poor reviews.
The Whipshot is one of the simplest of its line, consisting of only the plunger system, rotation point, and a single barrel. The barrel can be folded down to make the blaster compact enough to be stored in a pocket. However, the blaster does not fire Micro Darts very well, working better and firing much harder with Mega Darts and modern Nerf darts, achieving similar ranges to a modern Jolt EX-1.
Consequently, it was never re-released under the Nerf brand, and was only re-released in a Batman set for a brief time. It is very hard to find compared to the first-generation Rip Rockets blasters.
Trivia[]
- This was among the last Rip Rockets released.
- It is the lowest capacity(dart storage included) Rip Rockets blaster ever released, only having a single barrel and no dart storage.
- In addition to the above point, it is the first single-barrel compact Micro Dart blaster with no storage, a concept that would be later realized in the popular Secret Strike AS-1, and later the Reflex IX-1 and universal Jolt EX-1.
- It is one of the smallest of its line as well.
- Interestingly, it shares the same color scheme as the Switchfire (1994), and is the only blaster to do so.
