The Super Soaker XP 55 was the lower mid-sized Super Soaker released in 1995. Following in the shadow of soakers like the Super Soaker XP150 and released together with the Super Soaker XP 95 and Super Soaker XP 35, the XP 55 offers decent power in a light-sized package. (Note: the model tested is secondhand and fairly old (roughly 11 years old at the time of testing; whether a brand new stock XP 55 would perform the same way needs to be verified.)

Super Soaker XP 55 Larami 1995 Commercial Retro Toys and Cartoons

The XP 55 is a 1995 XP Super Soaker Air Blaster that holds 880mL. Like its "little brother", the XP 35, it was part of an intermediate XP generation that combined the mostly-gray color schemes of the first XP generation (the XP 75, XP 95, XP 150, and XP 250) with the engineering principles of the second XP generation (the XP 65, XP 105, XXP 175, and XXP 275). Also like the XP 35, it was re-released in a mostly orange color scheme as part of the second XP generation. It is the indirect successor to both the Super Soaker 50 and the XP 75 (which itself was the direct successor to the SS 50). It had no direct successor; however, it could be considered to have indirect or spiritual successors in the XP 70, XP 270, and finally Max-D 5000 (which were the direct successors of the XP 65).
