Like most other blasters, the XP 90 has faults. The main fault with the soaker is a fact of controversy associated with certain models of this blaster; on certain models, if the weapon is over-pressurized, the reservoir of the blaster could explode, potentially hurting people from the sharp plastic splinters flung all over the place and leaving the blaster useless. This was due to manufacturing defects with the reservoir and/or pressure chamber. A second fault with the weapon is that it is rather weak compared to most weapons of today; it can hold its own in small skirmishes, but that is it. A third problem is the noise the pulsing nozzle produces; while the clacking sound of the nozzle recoiling back and forth can be amusing and rather realistic sounding, it may very well give away one's position.

The XP 90: Pulse Fire is a 1999 XP Larami Super Soaker that holds 750mL of water in a pressurized reservoir. It is a rifle-like soaker with some innovation. The XP 90, as the name suggests, features an alternate fire mode known as "Pulse Mode". With pulse mode active, the soaker's barrel recoils back and forth, shooting a pulsing stream of water similar to full-auto fire, which helps to conserve water due to the pulsing stream. The XP 90 was available for a very short time in 1999 before it was recalled. As it was recalled, it is no longer available for purchase. It cost 14.99 USD at the time, and earned mixed reviews. It is classified as an air blaster.

Description[]

The XP 90 is a medium rifle-sized soaker, with a purple body with yellow accents, clear orange reservoir, orange recoiling barrel and an orange pump. The nozzle of the weapon can be twisted to toggle between normal and pulse mode. The XP 90 relies on an intake hose to convey water into the blaster.

Internals[]

The XP 90 has internals a little bit sub-standard for air blasters for its time. It has a pull valve trigger, hoses, gear mechanisms an air pump among other things.

Blaster Co-relation[]

As a blaster with a stupid and useless gimmick, the XP 90 is spiritually related to other gimmick blasters, such as the Super Soaker MDS, XP 85 Triple Shot, and XP Backfire. Chronologically, aesthetically, and in terms of engineering philosophy, it is part of the second XP generation, which includes the XP 65, XP 85 Triple Shot, XP 105, XXP 175, and XXP 275, and the orange reissues of the XP 35 and XP 55

Faults[]

How to Fire[]

Step 1 - Load the reservoir with water.
Step 2 - Load the reservoir into the blaster.
Step 3 - Pump the blaster 11-12 times. Do not overpump or the reservoir could explode.
Step 4 - Pull the trigger to fire a stream of water.
